Q: Do I need a doctor’s referral to attend physiotherapy?

A: No, a referral from your doctor is not required for physiotherapy services. Some private insurance companies require a referral for reimbursement under your extended benefit plan; however, each plan is different so it is best to check with your provider.

Q: Do you direct bill for extended medical benefits?

A: We do not direct bill for extended medical benefits.  We will provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your plan provider for reimbursement.

Q: Do you treat ICBC or WSBC patients?

A: No, at this time we are not accepting ICBC or WSBC patients.

Q: What should I expect at my first appointment?

A: During your first appointment, your physiotherapist will take a detailed history and review any relevant medical information (ie copies of x-rays, scans or surgical reports). They will then perform a full physical assessment to determine the root cause of your issue. From there, treatment options will be discussed and a treatment plan formulated.

Q: What should I bring to my appointment?

A: If it is your first appointment, please bring a copy of any relevant medical information (ie x-ray reports, MRI/CT reports, surgical reports, etc). Please dress in clothes that are comfortable to move in (we recommend shorts and a loose fitting t-shirt. Women can wear a tank top or sports bra). If it’s a lower body injury, please bring any footwear related to your activities, as well as orthotics if you have them.

Q: How long will my appointment be?

A: Initial assessments take anywhere from 45 – 60min. Follow-up appointments are booked based on time required, and will be 30min, 45min or 60min depending on the nature and complexity of the injury.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We require 24hrs notice for appointment cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged a cancellation fee.

 Telehealth FAQ

Q: What can I expect from a telehealth visit?

A: During your telehealth session you can expect

-a comprehensive assessment including taking a detailed history of your current condition, past medical history and functional goals

-a detailed movement analysis

-education about your condition and management strategies

-self mobilizations and self treatment techniques

-individual exercise prescription

Q: Who can access telehealth appointments?

A: Currently, telehealth physiotherapy is only available to residents of British Columbia, Canada. If you live outside of BC and are interested in booking a virtual wellness consultation, please contact us for more information.

Although many conditions are well served via telehealth, not all conditions are appropriate for this service. If you have specific questions about whether your condition is appropriate, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss that with you.

Q: What equipment do I need for my telehealth visit?

A: You will need a phone, tablet or computer with camera and microphone capability, as well as a strong internet connection. You will also need a space large enough to do some basic movements (ie squat, lunge, bend forward etc). If you have any home exercise equipment like resistance bands, small weights, a foam roller, or stability ball those can also be helpful but are not required. We will work with what you have available in your home.

Q: Will my insurance pay for telehealth?

A: Yes, many insurance companies are adding telehealth to the list of their insurable benefits. As this has been a fairly recent change due to Covid 19, we recommend checking with your own individual plan to ensure Telehealth is covered for you. Please not that only residents of British Columbia will be able to claim telehealth appointments as a physiotherapy service.

Q: Do you direct bill for telehealth appointments?

A: We do not direct bill for extended medical benefits.  We will provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your plan provider for reimbursement.
